Sodium Butyrate is a dietary supplement provided in vegan capsules containing standardized sodium butyrate, up to 79% butyric acid. This is the highest standardization of sodium butyrate available on the market.

Butyric acid belongs to the group of short-chain fatty acids, and its presence in the intestine allows for maintaining the proper pH and proper functioning of intestinal epithelial cells.

Sodium butyrate:

  • supports the proper functioning of intestinal epithelial cells,
  • allows for maintaining the proper pH in the intestine,
  • supports regeneration in gastroenterological diseases,
  • supports proper intestinal peristalsis,
  • supports the absorption of water in the intestine.

It is important to use sodium butyrate, enclosed in a specialized capsule resistant to gastric acid, to ensure that butyric acid reaches the intestines directly.

Ingredient Amount per daily serving
2 capsules
Sodium butyrate 500 mg
– standardized to 79% butyric acid 395 mg

Ingredients: sodium butyrate, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose – delayed release vegetable capsule, microcrystalline cellulose – bulking agent.

Gluten-free.

Servings per container: 30.

Recommended daily dose: 1 capsule to be taken 2 times a day. Consume after breakfast and dinner.

Preferred intake: We do not recommend pouring sodium butyrate out of the capsule.

Do not exceed suggested use. Dietary supplements should not replace a varied diet. The product is recommended for adults.

Warning: if pregnant or nursing, consult your doctor before use.

Capsule size: 0 (21 mm in length).

Our recommendation: due to the specific nature of the substance, we do not recommend pouring the powder out of the capsule.

Due to its properties, sodium butyrate has a specific smell that is noticeable after opening the jar with the contents of the capsules.

Keep away from the sun at a temperature below 25°C in the original packaging, out of reach of small children.

Production lot number / Best before – see the unit label (left side of the label).

Batch tests performed towards:

  • Microbiology: the presence of listeria, staphylococcus, Escherichia coli and coli groups, salmonella, total microbial count,
  • heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury),
  • ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol,
  • gluten content.

The tests were carried out at the independent, accredited Laboratorium GBA Polska – Certificates of Accreditation no: AB 1095.

Sodium butyrate - get to know its properties!

Sodium butyrate, the sodium salt of butyric acid, is a compound with many health benefits, especially for gut and digestive health. Butyrate, classified as a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA), is a product of dietary fiber fermentation by gut bacteria.

How sodium butyrate works:

  • Nourishes intestinal cells: Butyrate is the main energy source for enterocytes, the epithelial cells of the intestine. It helps maintain their health and supports the regeneration of intestinal cells.
  • Strengthens the gut barrier: Butyrate helps form connections between intestinal epithelial cells, which enhances the integrity of the gut barrier, preventing pathogens from entering the bloodstream.
  • Modulates gut microbiota: Butyrate can support the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.
  • Acts as an anti-inflammatory agent: Butyrate promotes the production of anti-inflammatory compounds, which can be beneficial in alleviating symptoms of inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
  • Has a positive effect on lymphocytes: Sodium butyrate has immune-modulating effects, influencing the activity of T and B lymphocytes and macrophages.
  • Supports immune tolerance: Butyrate helps in the production of T cells, which may support immune tolerance and prevent excessive autoimmune reactions.
  • Aids ATP production: As an SCFA, butyrate is rapidly metabolized in the mitochondria of intestinal epithelial cells, providing the energy needed for their function and regeneration.
  • Influences glucose metabolism: Butyrate can affect glucose and lipid metabolism, showing beneficial effects for individuals with insulin resistance or diabetes.

In the case of products exposed to decomposition by gastric juices, it is important to encapsulate products in special, gastric acid-resistant capsules with delayed release.

The capsule consists of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose or hypromellose – a cellulose derivative, bound with water.

The capsule has passed gastric acid resistance tests in an acidic environment of pH 1.2 and a buffering stage with intestinal pH 6.8.

The capsule is GMO-free, does not contain: titanium dioxide, dyes, carrageenan and other toxic substances.

The capsule has been approved by the Vegan Society and has NON-GMO, kosher and halal certificates.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) are characterized by 4 to 6 carbon atoms in the chain.

Short-chain fatty acids are organic compounds necessary for the proper functioning of the digestive tract. The most important of them are acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid. The role of acids is strictly defined – they serve as a source of energy for the cells of the intestinal mucosa. Short-chain fatty acids are completely absorbed and used by the intestinal epithelium and only a small amount (less than 5%) is excreted.

SCFA are formed in the lumen of the digestive tract as a product of anaerobic bacterial fermentation of dietary fiber and resistant starch, and their daily production in the large intestine in a healthy person is 20-100 g per day. Their production depends on many factors, such as: quality and method of nutrition, age, composition and activity of the intestinal microbiome, past and present diseases, medications, and even addictions.
